Close to 80 percent of Black women today will develop fibroids and the usage of Black hair care products and relaxers is definitely one of the reasons for this. Why? Because Black hair care products contain some of the highest levels of estrogenic compounds in the market and fibroids is disease caused by estrogen. Recently, a new study came out which documents how relaxers cause fibroids because of the presence of an estrogenic chemical known as phthalates in relaxers. Phthalates and other estrogenic chemicals are often times hidden in many of women's beauty products so you would never know that they are in there.
My recommendation: Buy natural and organic hair care products like Dr. Bronner's and avoid products which contain parabens, hormones, estrogen, "fragrance", and placenta.
The chemicals mentioned above are not the only estrogens that women are exposed to on a daily basis. There are hundreds of estrogenic compounds that women are exposed to on a daily basis which cause women to develop fibroids and other reproductive ailments.
