Americans consume an astoundingly high amount of high fructose corn syrup from soda consumption these days and it has a very detrimental effect on women. People consume close to 55 pounds of the sweetener every year. Not only does high fructose corn syrup cause heart disease, strokes, and type 2 diabetes but it also causes fibroid tumors which is a common condition found in 80 percent of women today.
High fructose corn syrup is the common sweetener found in soda consumed in America today which is actually the top source of calories in the U.S!
How does high fructose corn syrup cause fibroids? It causes fibroids by causing insulin resistance. Insulin resistance is the hallmark of type 2 diabetes. Much of the high fructose corn syrup consumed by women is from soda and many brands of soda contain high fructose corn syrup which is 65 percent fructose. Note: High fructose corn syrup is normally 55 percent fructose and 45 percent glucose. This is bad because a higher percentage of fructose means more insulin resistance which equals more fibroids.
My recommendation to women: Ditch the sodas to decrease your risk of fibroids.
High fructose corn syrup is not the only thing causing fibroids in women.
